Jamie’s climbing career began on the short but fierce Gritstone trad climbs of northern England. Since moving to the Sultanate of Oman in 2013, Jamie has discarded his rack and has been on a mission to develop deep water soloing in and around the attractive capital city, Muscat. The aims have been to:
- Find cool, fun and challenging routes within the city limits.
- Make after-work and even lunch-break DWS a reality for local climbers.
- Keep climbers’ motivation high during the near-endless tropical summers.
- Use the local sea cliffs for training in the absence of a gym in the city.
It’s been a big success. The cliffs aren’t always the tallest and the rock isn’t always the best, but a day out trying hard above a warm, calm ocean is something quite unique.
