Gary Goldfinger is a local climber from New York, USA. He began his climbing career in 2006 at one of the few indoor gyms near his home town. Climbing indoors almost everyday quickly turned into climbing outdoors almost everyday. Soon international travel became a priority, in order to work as an outdoor educator while climbing as much as possible. Oman was one of the destinations he worked in, spending six months living in the town of Dibba in the Musandam Peninsula. Because of border issues this area isn’t easily accessible, so he was lucky enough to feel as if he was the only climber there every time he went out. His extended time in the area gave him the opportunity to explore previously developed areas like Damian’s Boulders, but also to go out and find new boulders in many of the lesser-known wadis surrounding Dibba. He hopes to make it back to Oman one day, as he knows he has only scratched the surface of all the rock yet to be explored.
