Jeff Wenger lives in Bend, Oregon with his wife Casey, daughter Opal and their two dogs Muddy and Tillie. His journey with climbing started right out of high school as a means to explore new places and have grand adventures. Along the way he fought wildland fire, fished commercially, worked in the ski industry in Germany and Utah, owned property in Asia, taught school in rural Alaska, earned a Masters Degree in Switzerland, all with climbing as the focus or reprieve from whatever he got himself into. He settled in Bend in the late 1990’s and works as the Academic Director of a small therapeutic high school where he wears several hats, one of which is running a climbing-based Outdoor Program. When the Golden Eagle closure is not in effect Jeff initiates his students to the world of traditional climbing (and trail work) out at Trout Creek.
