Mike Dobie – Liming China Rock Climbing

I came to China in 2010 from the Pacific Northwest of the United States. With the help of many climbing partners, we discovered Liming’s potential and started to visit the area frequently to explore and develop rock climbing. From 2011 to 2015, I spent most of my time there as well as new routing in Keketuohai and Western Sichuan in an effort to create more traditional rock climbing opportunities for the Chinese and international climbing communities. During that time I was supported by The North Face China, Black Diamond, DaliBar, and Mad Rock as a professional route developer and author. Currently, I live in Liming, right in the center of the “Sport Climber’s Area”. It is an interesting experience becoming more connected and a part of the local community. As well as continuing to spearhead new developments and maintain access. It is a full time and ongoing process. The future for Liming looks really good.  When not in China I work in the Seattle continuing my career as a Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT, ATC). If you have questions about guiding and logistics services in China, additional beta, places to stay, other areas to climb in China, or climbing injuries, please feel free to contact me.
